- Dugan, Edward Howard and Mary Ellen (Clark)
Mary Ellen Clark and Edward Howard Dugan, our parents, were born in Illinois, USA. They were married there and later moved to Winnipeg, Man. in 1907. Our father was employed as an electrician for the C.N.R.
In 1921 our family of four boys and one girl moved to Prongua. Our stepfather ran the Atlas elevator there for three years. We all lived in the small confines of the elevator house. The boys slept under the engine room on straw mattresses to leave the one bedroom for their parents and younger sister.
We all attended the old Prongua school, which at that time was two and a half miles from Prongua itself. On Sundays we all worshipped at the United Church in Prongua.
When we look back now, we remember the 1920s as a decade of many trials and triumphs for our growing family. Although we will never forget the hardships of the times, we all prefer to remember and reminisce on the good times. The hockey and baseball games we all took part in. The trips to Battleford on the motor car and push car. Going to dances by horse and sleigh and the exciting stampedes that were held in Prongua in the 1920s.
Eddie, the eldest member of the family, was born in Winnipeg in 1908. He worked for the C.N.R. from 1928 to 1969, when he retired. He married Thelma Dillabough of Drummond Creek and raised three sons and three daughters. Eddie and Thelma are now residing in Prince Albert where they started off their married life in 1938.
Lewis was born in 1910 in Winnipeg. He served overseas in World War II and worked for the C.N.R. from 1929 - 1970. Lewis married Gladys Barsaloux from Cut Knife in 1936 and had one son. They are now residing in Melfort, Sask.
Henry, the third son, was born in Winnipeg in 1913. Like Lewis, Henry also served overseas for World War II. He was sent home before the war was over due to injuries he received while in Italy. He worked many years as a hotel clerk in Meadow Lake where he now lives with his wife, Hilda (Bohnest), of Meadow Lake.
George was born in Winnipeg in 1915 and served overseas for World War II. He married Margaret Morrin of Meadow Lake in 1940 and had three sons. George is now involved in the construction industry in Alberta.
Frances, the first daughter, of Mary Ellen Dugan was born in Winnipeg in 1917. Frances married Ernest Hawkins of Meadow Lake in 1940. Together, they farmed near Brooks, Alta. This is where they retired and are still living. [13]

Notes |
- Apperley, Eugene and Mary Ellen (Clark)
The first of two children to Mary Ellen Dugan and her second husband, Apperly, was born while the family still lived in the elevator in Prongua. It was for this reason they named her Atlas after the elevator where she was born in 1921. She married George Hennessy of the Cleveland district in 1941 where they farmed for some time. They later moved to Williams Lake, B.C. where George worked in a machine shop. They raised one son and one daughter together. Atlas later married Bill Mushanski. They still live in Williams Lake, B.C. where Bill is a foreman for Merle and Wagner saw mills.
Victor Apperly was born in Prongua in 1924 after the family moved out of the elevator. He moved to Regina where he married Francis Bell. He was a member of the armed forces but was too young to serve overseas. Victor and Francis have three sons and still live in Regina where Victor works for the Post Office.
Prongua will always be home to us all. We are proud to have been a part of that wonderful community. [13]
