Daniel DeLury, Esq.,
Walker, Minnesota

Dear Sir:

I have received a letter from Mr. C. E. Scribner, County Commissioner, asking if we would return Ellen Clark to her mother if he would guarantee her care and schooling. He states that Mrs. Clark is going to build a restaurant and wants Ellen. You will remember this girl as the oldest of the Clark children admitted to this School from Cass County October 7th, 1903. Arrangements had been completed for the girl to go to another home with good people but as she has not gone I will hold her until it can be determined whether it is best to return her to her mother or not. We certainly do not want to do the mother any injustice but would like to give the girl the best opportunities possible. Will you kindly advise me in the matter? Under the circumstances would you recommend that the girl be returned to her mother? Your reply will be very thankfully received.

Yours truly,
G.A. Merrill
