STOETZEL: William Rae Stoetzel. Suddenly on Jan. 22, 1992, Rae Stoetzel had passed away at his home. Rae was born on July 5, 1928 in Windthorst, Sask. He was the eldest of two sons to Matt and Inga Stoetzel. The family moved to Neepawa, Man. in 1937, where Rae received his schooling. He worked at INCO in Thompson and McDougall's Garage in Neepawa. He married Shirley Young of Foxwarren, Man. in October 1961. Rae and his family moved to Brandon in 1966. He started working at Wilton's as a mechanic for 22 years, then at Kelleher's for the last 3 years. In his younger years, Rae spent many enjoyable hours fishing and hunting with his father and close friends. He was an active member of the Brandon Archery Club. He spent numerous summers camping with his family and winters attending local hockey games. During his leisure, one would often find Rae on the golf course or puttering in his garage. Recently he had taken an interest in bowling, but still made time for his grandchildren. Besides his wife Shirley, he leaves to mourn his children: Susan (Stoetzel) and Murray Lane of Brandon, Jack of Newdale and Donna (Stoetzel) and Terry Baker of Newdale. Three grandsons: Codie, Dustin and Tyler. He also leaves his mother Inga Stoetzel of Neepawa. Rae was predeceased by his father Matt in June 1983; brother Joe in October 1977 and granddaughter Kaylee in November 1990. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. All those who knew Rae, the family would like to think of them as honorary pallbearers. Funeral services were held on Jan. 24 at Brockie-Donovan. Pastor Don Oddie officiated. Interment at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. |
