    Text Married 60 Years
Mr. and Mrs. James Ball, Bridgwater
A well known retired builder, Mr. James Ball. of The Bungalow, Chilton-street. Bridgwater, and Mrs. Ball, completed 60 years of married life on Thursday, May 29th, having been married on that date in 1887 at the Old Church, Bedminster, Bristol. Mr. Ball, who will be 81 in April, is a native of Bridgwater, and his wife, formerly Miss Martha Lily Blake, of Clevedon, will be 81 this month. Both are still active and well, except that Mrs. Ball's sight is failing. Mr. Ball cultivates his own garden, and continues his hobby of poultry keeping with a small flock of Rhode Island Reds.
Mr. Ball carried on business in the town for many years as a builder, taking part in the development of the Taunton, Durleigh and Kidsbury-roads, and Chilton-street. He retired about 16 or 17 years ago.
Eight of their family of eleven children are living, four sons and four daughters, in addition to whom they have 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One daughter lives at Taunton and another at Oxford. One son is Mr. A. H. Ball, a local turf commission agent, and another Mr. Harry Ball, of the Sydenham Garage, Market-street.
About 40 descendants and friends attended a party at The Bungalow on Saturday to celebrate the happy event, when Mr. and Mrs. Ball, who received a good number of presents, cut and distributed a large iced cake.
